Physical Therapy using Somatic Experiencing® to resolve the symptoms of trauma, including pain, anxiety, sleep disruption, and depression.
Somatic Experiencing® is a psychobiological, mind-body approach to treating the symptoms of trauma and chronic stress. Trauma can include physical injury, illness, surgery, childbirth complications, chronic pain, workplace or relational stress, abuse, or any experience that has created a sense of overwhelm in a person’s nervous system.
If the overwhelming experience has not had an opportunity to resolve and be integrated, the energy of the body’s self-protective response can create bracing patterns in the body. This can lead to symptoms such as muscle tension, pain, headaches, fear, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, digestive issues, sleep disturbance, and depression. Somatic Experiencing® teaches clients to become aware of the sensations in their body and works with the autonomic nervous system to slowly and gently release the tension and constriction that has been held in the body. This supports ease of movement, improved breathing patterns, and a sense of vitality and confidence in the body’s innate ability to heal. Resiliency can be nurtured and restored.
SE Physical Therapy offers home visits, allowing you to receive treatment in the comfort of your own home. New patients are welcome and do not require a doctor’s referral. Most insurance companies will reimburse a portion of your treatment expenses. Please contact your insurance provider directly to determine what they will cover.
